Obsessed with Orange

The newsroom has been buzzing lately.  You can hear constant chatter and mumbles of something...could it be leftovers in the Better Connecticut kitchen? Ice cream in the freezer? Or Brenda's lastest social media plunge?

No no, the latest craze in our newsroom, "Orange is the New Black".

If you are not sure what that is....here is a quick reality check of what you are missing..

Truthfully I started watching the show on a whim with my tv-show-marathon-watching-partner-in-crime Christina not knowing the show was such a hit.

I believe we finished watching the whole season in about a week and a half.

When the final scene ended I found myself searching Google for more information on when the new season would start and where did this show come from? Turns out the show premiered on July 11th on Netflix and I was going to have to wait a WHILE for the new season.

I quickly became addicted to the "Orange" and starting to suffer from withdrawals.

I was super pleased to find my co-workers also caught the "Orange" buzz so my addiction was being fed in newsroom conversations about all the actresses and the scenes and even the CT connections.

At any given time in the newsroom you can hear multiple people discussing the show whether it be trying to convince someone to watch it, or someone screaming to stop talking because they have 4 more episodes to go....an addiction has formed.

My BFF Michelle even was heard saying "I want to go to prison after watching that show. It's looks like to much fun. You meet a lot of nice people."

The show has done something to our newsroom...created something we actually all can agree on.

 I have my own plans to help my latest "Orange" addiction, I am going to read the original "Orange is the New Black" by Piper Kerman, and than most likely re-watch season 1 until they finally release season 2.

I am not going to tell you what to do with the extra hours in your day, but if you have Netflix, you need to watch this show...and if you don't have Netflix...get it...best investment you will make in 2013...

Today I ran in the "Sandy Hook Run For The Families" in Hartford.  Myself along with 15,000 other runners were huddled in the streets of Hartford on a VERY cold morning, for one purpose, to remember 26 angels that were taken from this earth way too early. Mama Denise

As a few of my blogs have outlined, I am a die-hard nutmeg-er and a loyal Channel 3 viewer/employee/spokesperson. I remember growing up in the townhouse my mother owned on the outskirts of town...Simsbury town that is....and crowding around a small television in the kitchen watching WFSB before school and during dinner. I think maybe that is when I should have realized that I was going to eventually work in TV, but instead I was hell bent on making ice cream, working in college atheletics and completely denying any form of an idea that I would work in television. I remember watching my mother cook dinner, usually Mac and Cheese because I was a SUPER picky eater, and watching Bruce, Denise and Dennis every night while chowing down on a mean bowl of Annie's White Chedder Mac. Fat-athlon

So, I didn't forget about my blog...I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to travel to London and drink a lot of beer and enjoy some much needed time off. With that being said...I'm backkkkkkkkk I am so back in fact, that I decided it would be super duper fun to run a 5K full of obstacles after completely letting my workouts go to waste while in London. I am not sure when I committed to being a willing participant in the Fitathlon...I have a feeling I was coffee wasted when the email was sent out and I said 'yes' due to a caffeine high.
