Making My Way Downtown
I have always thought that when it came time to write this blog all the words would flow freely.
I thought I would be able to create a blog filled with the utmost scathing words I could find to describe how much I can't stand Rob and his damn Duck Dynasty beard.
I thought I would be able to quickly write down some quip filled paragraphs filed with stories of my time at WFSB including the lack of sleep, horrible addiction to Indian that formed over two and a half years and my utmost passion for water main breaks (sarcasm) but it is not that easy.
You may have read that and said "wait what...her "time at WFSB?" yes...yes... I must confirm the tweets, Facebook inquires, the flooding of my inbox and the numerous inquires to my mother... I am leaving the Big 3.
It wasn't an easy choice considering I grew up watching Channel 3, ended up interning in the sports department and eventually cementing myself in the Assignment Desk hall-of-fame for the last two or so years.
So without further adieu.... I am taking my talents to the South Beach..Lebron Style...just kidding I am going to ESPN (I have to use sports references know ya know)
I am not hanging up the assignment desk phone though...I am just going to be picking up at a different extension. (Thank you Brenda for that great metaphor)
I can officially announce the latest addition to the extremely large and in charge assignment desk roster at the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network.
Now, if you have been keeping up with my barrage of blog postings you will have known that I was a sports intern at WFSB and I also worked for the athletic department at my Alma Mater...Coastal Carolina University....so to me, the shift from news to sports is more like going back home after a few years of being away.
I am looking forward to getting away from fires, watermain breaks, storm coverage and other newsie type things...unless a watermain break happens at Gillette Stadium, Citi Field burns down (that was for you Mark F.) or some heavy snow causes the Rose Bowl came to get cancelled (if that happens I am going to stop using hairspray because global warming is too much).
Over the last two years I have met some truly amazing people. I can confirm, tweet, web/social/crawl that statement.
If it wasn't for my time on the assignment desk at WFSB I wouldn't have even been a contender for the job... unlike Mr. Marlon Brando in "On The Waterfront"
It's not without mixed emotions I am closing my chapter at WFSB and starting a new one at ESPN.
I never thought I would get my tookus off the Hexagon at WFSB but this tookus got to walking and was presented an offer I couldn't refuse. Please see Godfather reference below.
Alright that is enough of the movie clips....
I am going to continue writing for the Hexagon... I am not sure if I am going to change the name... because in all honesty the desk at ESPN is actually a huge room and is a square...but that is for another day.
I will be changing my twitter handle obvi...@RubensteinESPN...here I will give you all the latest breaking in the sports world..which will be ankles, legs, scandals, and not water mains in Windsor.
I don't like goodbyes..something about them is too permanent for my wandering soul...so for now to all my WFSB friends/enemies/Rob....this is see ya later...and it's also like you guys won't social media stalk me for the rest of my life.
That's all folks...
Newsroom Elanna...Over and Out.
