"Oh Girl...You went on a date?!"
That headline got you huh?
I will brag and boast about the fact that this weekend... I went on a date!
Yes yes, seems juicy doesn't it? Elanna's blog is becoming less about ID badges and geese mobs and turning into some reality show like "Real World: Bristol".
But before I get carried away about all the fine details about my date, I should come clean...the date was with a married, older man... **GASP**
It was hard to schedule this date because of vacations he has planned with his wife and my busy work schedule, but we finally found a day that worked.
Ok ok, I will stop cracking up as I write this. I had the privilege, no no, the HONOR of going on a date with my Dad.
Now, I know that may seem like a let down for some juicy blog gossip but to me, it meant the world, even if it meant being up before the entire city of Bristol on a Saturday.
My dad, the gentleman that he is, picked up me up at 8:45 a.m. sharp, but not without laying on the horn once to scare the pure life out of me and making sure I have zero neighbors that actually like me.
After he got the, "hand-on-the-hip-ugh-dad" look, we made our way down to the Bronx.
Going to a Yankees game with my Dad means more to me than anything in this world because I have many people who are close to me who don't have the chance to share in memories like this, and because this life is not certain, I always want to make sure to say I went on dates with my Dad when I had the chance.
Speaking of which...take the man to the ball park, and be prepared for some carboloading, garlic dripping, sea salt tasting blobs of amazing.
My Dad and I try to make it to at least one Yankees game a year but this year was a "we must go to a game" year because the Captain, #2 Derek Jeter, is retiring after this season and we had to make sure to pay our respects.
And let me tell you, we paid our respects all right, we made sure to eat the best thing you can get at Yankee Stadium...the garlic fries.
Now, thankfully this wasn't anything beyond a Father-Daughter date because those fries could take out the Volturi (Twilight reference) and I would definitely not want to be talking to any prospective suitors with that breath but damn are they are worth the potential ruining of a social life.
On top of a beautiful day at the ball park, the Yankees were able to pull of an impressive 7-1 rout AND eventual sweep of the Reds.
My father and I finished out our great day date with a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes and a vegetable panini at the world famous "Blue Colony Diner" in Newtown on our way home.
Why I am admitting the total lack of self control for the world to see... I am not sure...but I am 100% sure I had the best day date ever.
