POP! POP!


As I am writing this post, I am counting down the days until Monday, January 28th, 2013.  The glorious day in which we celebrate the day of popping.

Yes, you read that correctly...popping. No, no, not the popping of zits, balloons or popcorn. But the popping of something better, the popping of something that us kids who grew up in the hood used to drive our bikes over for amusement.

Here it goes...

Last week, the assignment desk received a mysterious box.  The box was rather large, but it did not seem anything of the "suspicious" sort so the desk obviously welcomed the box with open arms.

Upon further investigation we noticed the box was from a PR firm in NJ, but what this PR firm was trying to get us to celebrate was something much more than I could handle...bubble wrap.

We couldn't just leave it at that so we opened the box, only to realize the bubble wrap was not only there for us to relentlessly pop until it was taken away from us, but there was also a challenge to be accepted...or a gauntlet that shall be thrown.

Inside the box were all the tools for a good 'ole fashioned bubble wrap popping contest, complete with sand filled hour-glass.

So, come Monday, in celebration of Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, the assignment desk will see who truly is the fastest popper at Channel 3, little do my fellow deskers know, I have been prepping for the competition since last week.  Just ask the guys down at Staples, I am stopping in every day for a new roll...I'm ready.

Also I was thinking, the loser has to be rolled up in the left over bubble wrap like Guillermo was during Jimmy Kimmel's celebration of Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day last year...

Mama Denise

As a few of my blogs have outlined, I am a die-hard nutmeg-er and a loyal Channel 3 viewer/employee/spokesperson. I remember growing up in the townhouse my mother owned on the outskirts of town...Simsbury town that is....and crowding around a small television in the kitchen watching WFSB before school and during dinner. I think maybe that is when I should have realized that I was going to eventually work in TV, but instead I was hell bent on making ice cream, working in college atheletics and completely denying any form of an idea that I would work in television. I remember watching my mother cook dinner, usually Mac and Cheese because I was a SUPER picky eater, and watching Bruce, Denise and Dennis every night while chowing down on a mean bowl of Annie's White Chedder Mac. Fat-athlon

So, I didn't forget about my blog...I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to travel to London and drink a lot of beer and enjoy some much needed time off. With that being said...I'm backkkkkkkkk I am so back in fact, that I decided it would be super duper fun to run a 5K full of obstacles after completely letting my workouts go to waste while in London. I am not sure when I committed to being a willing participant in the Fitathlon...I have a feeling I was coffee wasted when the email was sent out and I said 'yes' due to a caffeine high.
