How to Ruin a Diet 101

Working in journalism has it perks.  You always know what is going on locally, nationally and globally.  Sometimes I feel like I am so immersed in daily news that if I were to become an average civilian I wouldn't know what to do with myself.  But there is one downside...we eat like boys going through puberty when breaking news hits.

Lets start with Blizzard Charlotte, not only did it bring 3 feet or more of fluffy white stuff to towns and cities across the state, it also dropped off 25 pizza from Stone and Paddle in Rocky Hill.

So I would say that is the tip of the ice burg but not really.  A group of us worked hard until late into the night Friday night and than made our way to our temporary home, the Sheraton.

Now, the last time we stayed at this hotel, it was going through renovations, so we weren't quite sure what to expect, but let me tell you, if you ever have a desire to stay in Rocky Hill, stay here.  They were amazing, great staff, warm and welcoming after a long days work. And also very heavy handed with the booze.

I was lucky enough to bunk with the lovely Michelle Palmer for the evening(s).  So after getting into our room, taking a picture together to send to Hallie to make her jealous, we got the party started.  Now if you ever want a great roommate, ask for Michelle, she BYOB's to even a storm related hotel stay, that is a keeper.

Friday night we all gathered around a very long table to enjoy two of every appetizer on the menu, which included but not limited too, crab cakes, jumbo shrimp, potato skins, flat bread pizzas and some libations that not only helped release some Charlotte related tensions, but it made me want to visit the blond bartender more often based on her pure lack of ability to control the flow of vodka.

Saturday morning I left my comfy bed around 3am to make the trek to work, only to see that my car, would not be driven.
Trapped Cars
My car was somewhere in that tundra of frozen H2O.  I thought I was going to have a jump start on the snow because I already cleaned it once...that was a joke...good one mother nature, you win. So I made the trek to work via my two feet and a random plow driver who drove me to the end of the driveway at the station.

After another long day, I was shuttled back to the hotel to partake in a lovely nap and woke up to do nothing other than...eat.

I ate the most amazing truffle ravioli that I think I have ever had the honor of indulging in.  The food at the Sheraton was nothing short of amazing.  I am thankful that the station put us up in such a nice place and I was able to have a two day sleep over with everyone I work with everyday (slight sarcasm).

I am also lucky enough that I had the best roommate ever and I was able to have my desert personally delivered to my room Saturday night.
Vanilla Ice Cream and Mob Wives
Sunday morning came too quickly as I found myself indulging in some sweet potato home fries, croissants and cranberry juice and having to check out of my new favorite home.

I was able to make it to the gym Sunday morning and attempt to start chipping away at the calories I ate over the last three days, but let me tell you, working in journalism is an uphill battle.
