Big Girl Pants
Today marks my two year anniversary at the big world of Channel 3.
Time has flown, weight has gone up (thanks to newsroom food, and the banging Indian place down the street), and my tolerance for bull$#!+ has really dropped.
Not many people know I was an intern in the sports department, but you really should know that if you are an active follower of my blog because I did post about it a few weeks ago....if you want...you can re-read it again here -----> http://newsroomhexagon.blogspot.com/2013/06/hey-you-where-is-my-coffee.html
Anyway, following my blissful summer tending to the world of sports, I was hired as a vacation relief Assignment Desk/Associate Producer. Vacation relief meant that I would fill in for people who were on vacation....duh
I stuck with this position for two solid years, every shift, every holiday, every day. While it was not glorious and I always wanted that safety of a "Full Time" job, i.e. benefits, sick days (I have a weak immune system), I knew my time would come eventually.
After a couple close attempts, today I have officially accepted a full-time position!
There were some nights around 3/4am when I was filling in on a shift, I thought this day would never come.
Today I am blessed beyond words that my hard work and persistence to get rid of the "Vacation Relief" title from my name has paid off.
I am officially a Full-Time Associate Producer at Channel 3.
Nothing dramatic is changing, I still will have my crazy hours and my undying love for breaking news, but I now truly feel like all of my hard work as paid off aka I can take a vacation day and not feel as poor.
I feel like right now I am giving a total victory speech but I really do feel good.
Of course I would like to thank WFSB for this opportunity, but I also want to thank my parents for believing in me when I really felt like I had nothing left to believe in at all. They have supported me, believed in me, and motivated me, when really all I wanted to do was take the first flight to Mexico and open a snow cone stand.
So with that being said...I am livin' the dream.
Oh and here are the nice things that were said about me in the email sent out to staff...I think only about half of these things are true.
